I was born and raised in a small town in St. Louis, Missouri. My love for animals started as a child. At just eight years young, I would bring home stray dogs and cats, bathe them and try to trim their hair. As a teenager, I realized there was nothing in life I wanted to do more then be a pet groomer. When a shop opened up near me, I jumped at the chance to get a job as bather. Within two weeks, the owner asked if I want to learn grooming. I was so excited; my dream was going to come true!
It all seemed to come so naturally to me, so after several years of grooming, I moved to Florida and opened my very first shop, The Barking Lot. My first order of business was to create an atmosphere where pets can feel safe and comfortable, just as you'd want a child to feel during their first haircut. Sharing my passion for animals, I trained and mentored my staff to be the best groomers they could be; several have progressed to become prosperous shop owners themselves.
I then met my sweetheart, and we moved to his hometown of Brooklyn, NY. I continued my professional journey with a famous shop in Manhattan, where I groomed pets of celebrities and learned exciting new haircut styles.
When I married, we made Staten Island our home and I took the opportunity to work at a veterinarian clinic to expand my knowledge of animal health. While my first child (son) was on the way, I decided to open my second pet grooming salon, Christina's Petstyles. Since our launch in 2002, I've continued to enforce my number one rule: Pet Safety! My staff is thoroughly educated in prevention techniques, so injuries and accidents can be avoided at all costs.
Throughout my 33 years in practice, I've mastered hand scissoring and honed skills in working with hard-to-handle breeds, as well as sick, elderly pets. I am able to groom just about any dog or cat that comes through my door. And I pride myself on doing a great job, because my clients are like family to me. As my own family has since grown, now with my daughter and two foster daughters, I feel blessed that they have come to love animals the way I do and help out at the salon. We feel great when pets come to Christina's Petstyles. We know they will be treated to the best.
